Ethnic xenophobes and nationalists –
destroyers of the national integrity

We are citing the Sega Newspaper: A Romanian party wants a constitution change The Head of the democratic alliance of the Humgarians in Romania marko Bella stated that romania is not a national country, since in it are living not only 1.5 million Humgarians, but also other ethnic minorities. In connection with this the leader of the party thinks it is necessary for the Romanian Constitution to be corrected so some of the problems can be arranged.

“Roma Destiny” National Media Position

 Is it possible that this suggestion of the head of the democratic alliance of the Hungarians in Romania, Marko Bella, be paraphrased and suggested by some of contemporary “ethnic leaders” in Bulgaria, concerning a change in the Bulgarian constitution?

 “Roma Destiny” National Media considers this possible and with this position of ours we would like to get ahead of the raising of similar xenophobic and ethnic passions, leading to ethnic intolerance and in this way destroy our nation’s integrity.

 “Roma Destiny” National Media wants to firmly state its position concerning such intentions and acts. Bulgaria is a united country, with a Bulgarian history, culture and traditions. This does not erase the identities of other ethnicities – Turkish people, Roma people, Hebrews, Armenians and others, but is allowing the nation to be unified, in which unity every ethnicity rediscovers its identity and religion in our common national culture. In this way, Bulgarian culture itself gets enriched.

 If political parties or organizations with ethnic character say that such a change in the constitution would balance the minority rights with these of the majority, we want to say that such a thing would only lead to fragmenting of the integrity of our nation. The word nation in its meaning includes not only one ethnicity, but all ethnicities living in it.

 We think that in the present time, our national political elite must work for establishing the European democracy ideals and values in our society. When our nation is established in them, every group will find its identity and know their rights.
